About my Escape

This little Escape appeares in the January/Febuary 2008 issue of Truck Trend in the Readers Rides on page 65!?!  So I figured I would put it here to because I'm very happy with how this vehicle has turned out.

***NEW***  I submited the picture here of my next to the windshield with the magazines, and they put that picture along with my comment into the March/April Issue in the reader's comment's section!  Holy Crud!  I love Truck Trend!

After 4 pickup trucks, my last a 2005 Ford F.150 with the 5.4 V8, I needed something a little smaller because of both traffic around here and the cost of fuel/insurance.  So I bought this tiny Escape with the wimpy 4 cylinder just to get back and forth from work...  Turns out, that wimpy 4 banger makes this little trucklet faster then the F.150!  

I couldn't believe how well this trucklet actually pulls my loaded utility trailer!  The only drawback is the brakes don't stop very well under full load.  It also pulls both my buddy's fishing boat out of the steep boat ramp without any complaint.  Considering it's only front wheel drive, I was more then impressed how easy it pulled out of the ramp.

It took me and my family up to Oklahoma in Febuary this year.  Even completley loaded down with 3 good size Americans, cargo on the roof rack, and the rear and back seats Filled literally up to the roof, it still managed an average of 25MPG On the trip and a average speed of 73MPH!

I bought this vehicle simpley for cost savings and ease of navigating traffic.  I never thought it would actually become a willing friend and tough workhorse!  Never thought it would become my favorite vehicle either!

Thanks, I like how it turned out.  I still want to get the Fog Lamps installed in the bumper and tiars with a more aggressive tread.  But that's later on..... After I pay off my current credit cards!?!

I took it up to the dealer I bought it and showed them the issue, and they said "It don't look like a Escape now."  I'm not sure if I should be proud..... Or insulted!?!  If I didn't want it to look like a Escape, I wouldn't have bought it.

Hey, I saw that photo of u in that issue! Love seeing more photos of your Escape. It's a good looking SUV.  Welcome to the site too.
